Biddy Early’s

Boston, Massachusetts

For those who believe a good night of drinking inevitably leads to a dive bar at some point, Biddy Early’s slogan of “All Roads Lead To Biddy’s” will ring true. The overlap between great dive bar and great Irish pub is deceptively difficult to find, but Boston’s Biddy Early’s embodies just that rare combination. The Boston dive bar’s persistence is made all the more impressive by its downtown Financial District location where no doubt pressure builds around flipping Biddy Early’s into a Dunkin’ Donuts.

Visually, Biddy Early’s looks a bit like a cash only, old-timey general store crossed with an Irish pub which, for those who have had the pleasure to drink in Ireland, isn’t far off of the vibe at some of that country’s best options (see our review of Foxy John’s, for example). Worn green stools surround small drinking stations throughout the space and stickers cover just about everything, from the beer coolers and up. Stained glass style lamps hang over the bar, illuminating classic bar food available daily until 10 PM that includes wings, mozzarella sticks and other staples.

SFG Note: This is a dive bar directory listing. We haven’t had the good fortune of visiting firsthand yet. When we do, you’ll get a great review. In the meantime, we’ve compiled information to help you make a choice on visiting.
